Description

YouthInspirED Foundation is a Canadian registered charity, run entirely by youth under 30, dedicated to making education accessible to every student. Through our network of youth-led chapters across Canada, we provide free, virtual, academic and English as an additional language tutoring to K-12 students who may otherwise face barriers to academic support. We are looking for enthusiastic and compassionate Volunteer Virtual Tutors to provide free one-on-one virtual tutoring sessions to K-12 students. Tutors choose the subjects they teach, the grade levels they support, and their own weekly availability. Recommended minimum commitment is approximately 1 hour per week.

Qualifications

We welcome applications from high school students, college and university students, recent graduates, working professionals, and retired educators and professionals. Successful applicants should have strong knowledge of the subjects they wish to tutor, be reliable, patient, and enthusiastic about helping students succeed, possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, and have access to a reliable internet connection and a computer or tablet capable of video conferencing. Previous tutoring or teaching experience is an asset but is not required.

Responsibilities

Deliver engaging virtual tutoring sessions to assigned K-12 students. Create a welcoming, encouraging, and supportive learning environment. Explain concepts clearly and adapt teaching approaches to individual learning styles. Communicate professionally with students and the YouthInspirED team. Complete required onboarding, training, and background checks before tutoring. Subjects include Mathematics, Academic English, English as an additional language, Science, French, Social Studies, and other subjects based on demand.
