Description
The Community Foundation of Southeastern Alberta (CFSEA) is seeking a thoughtful, organized, and curious Learning and Impact Coordinator (LIC) to join our team.
The Community Foundation of Southeastern Alberta strengthens communities by building permanent endowment funds, investing in regional charitable initiatives, and providing leadership on issues affecting regional well-being. Governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, CFSEA is a public foundation committed to fostering community vitality across Southeastern Alberta.
The Learning and Impact Coordinator is a forward-facing, strategic role that strengthens CFSEA’s ability to understand, strengthen, and communicate the difference we are making across Southeast Alberta. This position supports CFSEA’s Freedom to Explore strategic priority by helping the organization learn from its work, measure its impact, and build confidence in pursuing new opportunities.
The role combines learning, impact measurement, and interim operational support. It is well suited to someone who enjoys connecting ideas to action and helping an organization grow in thoughtful, practical ways. The position is intentionally designed to grow into a full-time role as CFSEA’s learning and impact work expands.
Qualifications
- Experience or education related to learning, evaluation, impact measurement, research, operations, or organizational improvement
- Ability to synthesize information from people, data, and experience into clear insights and recommendations
- Comfort working with ambiguity, experimentation, and evolving responsibilities
- Strong analytical thinking paired with practical follow-through
- Ability to work with both qualitative and quantitative information
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Experience with bookkeeping or financial systems is an asset
- Experience in the non-profit or community sector is an asset
- Ability to manage competing priorities within limited weekly hours
- A curious, reflective approach and interest in community impact
- Commitment to transparency, learning, and responsible stewardship
Responsibilities
- Provide interim support for day-to-day bookkeeping activities, including accounts payable and receivable, account reconciliation, and preparation of routine financial reports
- Support tracking and documentation of learning- and innovation-related costs, advisor engagement, and pilot initiatives
- Work collaboratively with the Executive Director and financial supports to ensure financial information informs learning and decision-making
- Coordinate internal organizational learning activities related to innovation in philanthropy, non-traditional gifts, alternative investments, and emerging community needs
- Gather and summarize insights from staff experiences, pilot initiatives, external advisors, sector research, and peer foundations
- Prepare learning summaries and briefing notes for internal use
- Support the design and use of practical tools to understand the impact of CFSEA’s grants
- Collect, organize, and review grant reporting information in collaboration with the Grants Coordinator
- Identify patterns, outcomes, and lessons learned across grant activities
- Support the thoughtful use of external advisors and subject-matter experts
- Help clarify learning questions prior to engaging advisors
- Document insights and translate expert input into practical takeaways
- Track recurring themes, risks, and opportunities emerging from advisor engagement
