Description
Paddle Prairie Métis Settlement is implementing a mobile overdose emergency response and community health support initiative. We are seeking a Contracted Emergency Responder / Van Driver & Program Support to assist the Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) with on-site stabilization support and in-home wellness visits, operate and maintain the mobile unit in rural conditions, and provide essential program coordination (calls, scheduling, documentation, and basic logs) to ensure timely, culturally safe service delivery.
Qualifications
Desired Skills:
- Calm under pressure; able to support urgent situations safely.
- Strong organization (scheduling, documentation, follow-ups).
- Reliable communication and teamwork with the PCP
- Comfortable driving in rural/winter conditions and handling logistics.
- Professional, culturally safe, non-judgmental approach.
Qualifications:
- EMR credential (or higher) OR documented training/competency in overdose recognition/response including naloxone administration.
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s licence (or higher).
- Current BLS/CPR (HCP) (or ability to obtain before start)
- Police Information Check (Vulnerable Sector may be required)
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts and lift/carry 25–30 kg
Responsibilities
The EMR will support the PCP during on-scene responses and in-home wellness visits by assisting with patient support tasks as trained, preparing equipment, and helping maintain scene safety; operate the mobile unit safely in rural/winter conditions; maintain vehicle readiness (cleanliness, stocking, inspections, mileage/fuel logs, service coordination); manage non-clinical program administration including receiving calls, scheduling visits, coordinating logistics, and completing required documentation/templates; and ensure respectful, culturally safe engagement with community members while protecting privacy and confidentiality.
Pay Rate
$350 per shift
