Description
Serving Medicine Hat and area for over 15 years, Extended Family Services is a fully licensed and insured companionship and personal care support service. We work closely with clients and families in the continuum of care in home, community and local supportive living facilities. We offer support for individuals who are qualified for Self-Managed Care and CDHCI funded programs.
We are seeking an experienced caregiver, preferably a certified HCA, or HCA/nursing student, who can work independently, is reliable, and adaptable. This work is suited to individuals who are looking for a flexible schedule, and enjoy working with seniors. The ideal candidate is someone who seeks and creates meaning in their work, is relationship focused, and strives to enhances quality of life for others. In this position you will work closely with clients, families, and other health care professionals. You will assist in the maintenance of a safe environment, maintain effective communication, and provide impartial support for all care partners.
Qualifications
-Must have reliable transportation and valid drivers license.
-Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
-Preference will be given to candidates with HCA Certification.
-First Aid Certification required
-Valid Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector required. (Current within 3 months)
Additional Preferred Education and Skills:
-Completed courses in : WHMIS, Back Care, Dementia, Preventing Resident Abuse
-Demonstrated awareness of accident and injury prevention and adheres to safe work practices.
Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced Caregiver to:
-Provide companionship and support to clients
-Assist with personal care including shower/bathing, dressing, toileting, hygiene, and grooming
-Provide medication support/administration as directed by medical professionals
-Assist with mobility and transfers, ensuring client safety
-Assist with meal preparation, light house keeping, laundry
-Assist with ADL's (activities of daily living)
-Provide notes/documentation on daily visits and monitor for changes in clients' condition.
Pay Rate
$17-20
