Description
Make your summer count—and grow your skills in rangeland management. Whether you’re launching your career or bringing agricultural experience, this role puts you outdoors doing work that truly matters. You’ll gain hands-on, real-world experience in range stewardship, pasture monitoring, grazing management, and public service while seeing the direct impact of your efforts across rural Alberta. Work alongside experienced professionals, take on meaningful responsibility, and build experience that can open doors to future roles in agriculture, environmental management, or municipal services from late spring through summer.
Qualifications
• Minimum 1 year of post-secondary education in Agriculture/Environmental Sciences diploma or degree program
• Strong knowledge in plant taxonomy and identification skills
• Responsibility of working unsupervised in remote locations
• Ability to communicate effectively using courtesy, tact and discretion and use of good judgement
• Physical capabilities to perform job duties and lift a minimum of 50 lbs
• Microsoft Office computer skills with MS Outlook, Word, Excel programs
• Familiarity with ArcGIS software would be considered an asset but not necessarily required
• Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s Licence

• This position will be working outside completing fieldwork in rural-remote areas throughout Special Areas 2, 3 & 4
• These are designated safety sensitive positions and mandatory pre-employment drug testing will be required on all newly hired employees.
Responsibilities
• Extensive field travel to often remote work locations
• Conducting vegetation inventories in grassland environments
• Assessment of rangeland and riparian health
• Compile and interpret technical data including database management
• Delivering the Special Areas Safety Program and all reporting requirements
• Other duties as required
