We are currently recruiting for a Home Visitation Program Supervisor/Family Support Worker in Medicine Hat.
HVP is an early intervention initiative made possible through a partnership with the Government of Alberta Family Resource Network and the Public Health Agency of Canada. HVP is designed to support families in providing a nurturing, stimulating and safe environment for their child(ren). It promotes positive parent-child interaction and healthy child growth and development; increases family’s knowledge and usage of community supports; and improves parent’s ability to identify what their needs are and develop skills and confidence in managing their lives. Qualifications
Qualifications:
? Degree or Diploma in a related Human Service Field, and 3 years related experience in a Human Service Field;
? Experience in family support practice;
? Knowledge of child/youth development, childhood attachment, positive parenting, mental health and addiction, and family violence preferred;
? Strong interpersonal, leadership, verbal and written communication, organization and administrative skills;
? Demonstrated competence in personnel supervision;
? Experience working with computers, email, virtual technology and internet;
? Clear Child Intervention Record Check;
? Clear Criminal Records Check;
? Daily use of a reliable, insured vehicle and a valid Driver’s Licence and vehicle registration’
? Vehicle insurance, a minimum of $1,000,000 coverage to include use as a requirement of employment; and
? An acceptable driving record verified by Driver’s Abstract.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities:
? Overall coordination and supervision of the HVP program
? Directly supervise HVP Family Support Workers (FSW) including recruitment, hiring and orientation of staff, providing regular individualized supervision and training opportunities, and managing FSW caseloads
? Facilitate review and implementation of work and quality improvement plans
? Monitor and compile program statistics and complete required monthly, quarterly and annual reporting
? Facilitate annual program evaluation
? Maintain program records including personnel files, program participant files, program evaluation, etc.
? Maintain a trusting, supportive relationship with families by providing information and support through regular home visits, meetings, phone calls, case conferences, etc.
? Utilize a family-centered, strength-based and solution focused approach, to assist families in developing goals.
? Provide information on parent-child interaction, child development, mental health, childhood attachment, the dynamics of child abuse/neglect and other related information, to teach positive parenting and promote independence and a healthy environment for the family.
? Assist individuals in accessing community resources.
? Complete child developmental assessments.
? Act as a representative for Home Visitation Programs on committees and at community activities.
? Participate in association and program promotion activities.
Pay Rate
4, 619.33 - 4, 708.58
Term Of Appointment
The position is 40 hours per week. The work week is generally Monday to Friday, with day and evening work required. The starting date will be in September. The wage for this position is $55,432 - $56,503 per year, depending on education and experience.
