Qualifications

• Strong decision-making skills in high-pressure situations.
• Physical fitness meeting the standards outlined in the National Lifeguard Award.
• A team-oriented mindset with excellent interpersonal and leadership abilities.
• Confidence to take initiative and lead by example in a team environment.
• Dependability and a proactive approach to your responsibilities.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule consisting of days, nights, weekends, and statutory holidays.
Qualifications
• Minimum age of 16 years.
• Possess a current:
o National Lifeguard Pool (NL – Pool) Award
o National Lifeguard Waterpark (NL – WP) Award
o National Lifeguard Waterfront (NL – WF) Award
o Standard First Aid (Level "C" CPR) Certificate, issued within the last twelve months at time of hiring.
o Starfish Aquatic Instructor (SAI) Certificate
• Equivalent combination of approved training and experience considered.
Additional Requirements: This position has been identified as Safety Sensitive and requires the completion of a satisfactory pre-employment drug screen. There will also be a requirement to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check and Intervention Record Check.

Responsibilities
• Supervise aquatic activities, ensuring the safety of all patrons.
• Respond swiftly to emergencies and provide first aid as needed.
• Maintain the cleanliness and functionality of pool areas and equipment.
• Offer suggestions to improve operational practices for a better experience.
• Represent the City of Medicine Hat with professionalism and positivity.
