Join the City of Medicine Hat as a People Services Summer Student
Temporary, Full time, On Site
As a People Services Summer Student at the City of Medicine Hat, you will gain hands-on experience in human resources by supporting various People Services functions and initiatives. This role provides an opportunity to develop essential HR skills while assisting with administrative tasks, abilities claims administration, document preparation, and other clerical duties to support internal clients.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Currently enrolled in or completed a post-secondary program in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
Familiarity with HR processes or office administration is an asset but not required.
Previous coursework or experience in human resources, administration, or office management is an asset.
Experience working with confidential information and maintaining records is preferred.

Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities
Assists with administrative and clerical tasks such as filing, scanning, ordering supplies, and maintaining records.
Updates and maintains employee files, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
Supports People Services processes by scheduling appointments, coordinating meetings, and assisting with new hire orientation.
Provides reception coverage as needed, including handling inquiries and directing calls.
Coordination/support of People Services recruitment, employee events (i.e. job fairs).
Adheres to company policies and maintains strict confidentiality regarding employee and organizational information.

Ability to work independently while collaborating within a team.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
Term Of Appointment
This is a summer position, candidates must be available May - August 2025.
