Description
The Village of Andrew is located at the apex between Alberta’s Heartland and Lakeland economic zones approximately one hour east and north of Edmonton. Our community has been approved to launch a public charter school for the upcoming 2025/26 school year. We are seeking initial expressions of interest to proactively prepare for the needs of the school.
The Opportunity
Andrew Rural Academy will be a first of its kind in Canada public charter school offering a rural focused Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) based curriculum to a K-12 student population.
We are currently accepting expressions of interest for a variety of teaching positions for the 2025-2026 school year for Andrew Rural Academy Charter School. Specific assignments are yet to be determined, however, we encourage you to begin the exploration process for preliminary consideration and interpretation of fit.
These positions will offer a professional educator the opportunity to create a different kind of student experience. Our school chooses to broadly focus on building toward careers in the broad areas of:
• Automation/Autonomous Machines
• Ag Related Sciences
• Trades and Process Operations
• Civil Engineering and Construction
• Health Sciences
• Humanities and General Business
Creating experiential linkages between the Alberta Education Programs of Study to relevant enhancing STEM learning and ultimately tied to rural life and careers will be the focus of our school.
We recommend interested candidates familiarize themselves with the concepts of STEM programming delivered through experiential, hand-on methodologies. Candidates are further encouraged to invest their Professional Development dollars over the next six months towards these concepts and techniques.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
? Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or possess a valid work permit,
? Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or applicable equivalent,
? Must have or be eligible to obtain a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate,
Responsibilities
Recommended Skills and Competencies:
? Previous training and experience with Early Childhood Development and student Special Needs
? Familiarity with the realities of rural life in Alberta
? Experiential learning methodologies
? Team culture and leadership
