Overview:
Pembina’s Gas Services Business Unit is currently seeking a “Summer Student - Operator, Gas Plant” for the term (May 6 - August 9, 2025).
The “Summer Student - Operator, Gas Plant” position reports to the Operations Foreman in the Gas Services Business Unit (GBU), part of Pembina’s Facilities division. Empress is a gas processing facility consisting of a 1.2 BCF Extraction Plant, NGL Fractionation, Cogen, Propane Rail Loading, Ethane Cavern storage and NGL truck loading.
Qualifications
Preference will be given to those individuals who have a 3rd Class Power Engineering certificate;
Industry experience, Cryogenic – Extraction Plant, Fractionation, or Cogeneration experience would be an asset;
Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills;
Ability to multi-task and maintain a flexible attitude to accommodate the variable duties of the position;
Working knowledge of MS Office applications;
A commitment to working safely;
Dedication to on-going training and development; and
Minimum of a Class 5 driver’s license.
This position is considered “Safety Sensitive” and so will require Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing which includes testing for marijuana metabolites. You may also be required to provide a Driver’s Abstract.
The successful candidate must live within 100 km of Pembina Empress Facility (Medicine Hat).

Work with a safety conscious attitude and high standard of safety by ensuring proper policies and procedures are followed in relation to operational and maintenance tasks to ensure equipment is properly prepared for maintenance;
Work effectively in a team environment in the starting up and/or shutting down various pieces of equipment in the process areas;
Visually inspect equipment at periodic intervals to detect malfunctions or repair, identifies problems and recommended solutions;
Participate in emergency response activities; including emergency response/preparedness exercises and training; and
Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.
