Qualifications

What You Need to be Successful

• High attention to detail is critical
• Good problem-solving skills
• Math knowledge, including Calculus
• Proficiency with the Excel and MS Office
• Must be able to work both independently and under immediate supervision
• Interest in manufacturing or engineering
• Be able to use measurement tools after initial training correctly
• Follow company policy for job safety
• Must be able to lift 35lbs and stand on your feet for your shift
• Must be at least 18 years of age

Responsibilities

Position Summary

McCain Food has 6 large-scale food processing plants in Canada, employing over 1300+ individuals. Each site specializes in the production of a variety of McCain products. This internship will assist the Operations and Continuous Improvement teams in developing key document control systems and line improvement studies.

After initial training, you will be building business critical process and document control systems. Normal schedule is eight hours per day, five days per week, but might be required to work other shifts and weekend hours as needed. Candidates should have a strong interest in manufacturing and/or business management. 

The Team
The intern will be a part of the operations team at the manufacturing facility. Working directly with Plant Leaders.

What You Will Be Working On

• Collect and share information
  • Assemble and produce compelling content about operations activities – pictures, illustrations, messages, videos, best practices, testimonies, stories, quantified results
  • Communicate regularly with facility employees in all job classifications.
  • Support shared learnings and dissemination of results internally and externally
• Participate and lead continuous improvement projects
  • Gather data relevant to current and future process and engineering initiatives
  • Make regular recommendations to plant leadership team regarding initiatives and improvements.
  • Present overall progress against assigned projects on monthly basis.
