Description
Join our family of four as a ‘Care Captain: Master of Medicine and Fun’! We're seeking compassionate individuals for part-time and casual positions to provide in-home care for our 19-year-old daughter who has Congenital Myasthenia Syndrome. She's a vibrant young woman with complex medical needs including a tracheostomy and nighttime ventilation.
Our daughter is adventurous and loves being part of the community. Despite mobility and communication challenges, she's clever, spunky, and determined. Her interests range from gaming and Pokémon Go to crafts and music. She communicates primarily through text messaging and sign language, drives her powerchair independently, and enjoys daily walks, weather permitting.
As a Care Captain, you'll ensure her safety, well-being, and medical needs are met while curating a fun and enriching life. Responsibilities include planning, scheduling, and attending activities and outings, administering medications and feeds via g-tube, and maintaining clear airways during nighttime ventilation.
Our home in Ranchlands, Medicine Hat, is also shared with our beloved dogs, a full-size Goldendoodle and a protective Havanese. Personal attributes we value include kindness, empathy, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm and act swiftly in emergencies.
Part-time and casual shifts are available, with flexible scheduling for the right candidate. Occasional casual night shifts run from 9 pm to 7 am. If you're ready to make a meaningful impact in someone's life while being part of a caring family environment, we'd love to hear from you!
