Description
ASRAB supports Albertans who are blind or visually impaired to live physically active lives and participate in competitive sport programs. We do this by:
1. offering physical literacy and fundamental movement skills to children;
2. providing sport programs (goalball - a Paralympic sport developed for persons with a vision impairment),
3. offering a continuum of programs and services in a wide variety of recreational activities that supports participation and engagement of the blind and visually impaired in their local communities.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
For consideration:
• Completed or pursuing a degree in Kinesiology or a related degree.
• Experience working with individuals with a visual impairment or other disability.
• An understanding of physical literacy and physical education.
• Experience in leading a group and managing volunteers.
• Access to reliable transportation.
Responsibilities
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Program Lead will provide safe and quality programming, through effective program development, promotion, implementation, supervision/support and evaluation. The Regional Program Lead Roles will work under the direction of the Executive Director, and in conjunction with the Program Operations.
PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT
• Plan and promote sport and recreation programs according to participant needs and interests.
• Build relationships with appropriate agencies in the respective region (including CNIB, school vision teachers etc.)
• Working with Program Operations, coordinate and secure necessary resources including facility rental and equipment.
• Effectively communicate with members and volunteers; and any other community clubs/organizations as necessary.
• Collect demographic information on all programs.
• Gather feedback from participants, to provide recommendations for future programming and improvements.
PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION
• Lead introductory sport and movement classes for children with visual impairments.
• Lead recreational programming for individuals with a visual impairment of all ages.
• Engage technical experts to conduct programs that require technical expertise, and work with them to develop programs.
OTHER DUTIES
• Maintenance and inventory of recreation and sport equipment and supplies in your region.
• Attend ASRAB meetings and functions, including providing support to events in other regions as requested.
• Other duties assigned by the Executive Director.
Pay Rate
$20/hy
