Description
Join the Ministry of Forestry and Parks in safeguarding Alberta's forests from wildfires and preserving provincial parks. As part of the Wildfire Management Branch, contribute to early detection and reporting of potential forest fires.
Role Responsibilities:
• Early detection and accurate reporting of potential forest fires
• Continuous observation and reporting of smoke or fire progress
• Monitoring for smoke indicating wildfires and lightning storms
• Weather reporting at least twice daily
• Communication and maintenance of radio transmissions
• Routine maintenance of lookout buildings and equipment
Qualifications
Qualifications:
• Minimum of some high school education
• Physical ability for Lookout Operations
• Age requirement: 18 years or older as of March 1, 2024
• Ability to climb a one-hundred-foot vertical tower ladder within 10 minutes
• Adaptability, physical and mental resilience, self-motivation, and autonomy
Additional Requirements:
• Valid Standard First Aid certificate with CPR
• Lookout Medical Certification prior to employment
Pay Rate
$21.71 to $26.64 per hour
