Responsibilities
The Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) is now accepting applications for the following exciting positions across Canada:
- Assistant Maritime Search and Rescue Coordinator
- Maritime Search and Rescue Coordinator
- Marine Communications and Traffic Service Officers (Ab Initio Trainee)
- Response Specialists
- Senior Response Specialists (positions are available in the Arctic region only)
Assistant maritime search and rescue coordinators help organize our responses to marine search and rescue incidents. Our maritime search and rescue coordinators organize our responses to on-water emergencies, including vessels in distress. To help save lives and minimize injuries or damages during incidents, they plan and coordinate search and rescue resources from the Canadian Coast Guard and our partners and volunteers.
Our Marine Communications and Traffic Services (MCTS) officers are the eyes and ears of Canada’s waterways. They ensure mariners’ safety 24/7 in one of our 12 MCTS centres across Canada, from Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL, to Victoria, BC.
Response specialists/Senior response specialists help carry out/coordinate, marine environmental response activities on the water, including cleaning up marine pollution and oil spills. This important role helps keep Arctic waters healthy and safe.
